Full-Length Film ‘The Nutcracker’ Will be Shot in Russia

The latest trend of turning Russia/Soviet fairy tales into box office hits is not slowing down as filmmakers are looking to capitalize on the theatre success of ‘The Nutcracker’ by making it a full length feature film.

According to KP.RU, while the casting is not disclosed at this time, the film will be shot in Russia and will be directed by Felix Umarov, the man who is behind the lens for the upcoming film ‘The Prophet – The History of Alexander Pushkin” starring Yuri Borisov.

“The Nutcracker” will be released by the production and distribution company “Central Partnership” together with the company “Kinoslovo”, which just showed “The Wizard of the Emerald City” on the big screens on New Year’s Eve.

The team is hopeful to continue the box office success of recent works such as the film adaptation of “Cheburashka” which collected a record 6.7 billion rubles at the box officein the early part of 2023.
